Brad Krugler and Toni Golab
Owners and Race Directors of Michigan 13.Wine
We are a husband and wife team who draw upon a combined 50 years of race participation experiences to our event directing. Brad, a native of Michigan, grew up in Stevensville and spent much of his youth logging miles down to the lake. Brad also ran cross country and track at Lakeshore High School and Southwestern Michigan College respectively and achieved All-Amercian status at Southwestern Michigan College in track . Toni, a proud back of the pack member, found her love for the sport later in life, she has run numerous half and full marathons and has competed at the Half Ironman distance. In our spare time, we enjoy hiking , cycling and of course, RUNNING.
The idea came to Brad after coming home from coaching a half marathon in Napa Valley, 2011. Having logged hundreds of training miles on the roads of Stevensville and Baroda he knew his hometown would provide a great backdrop for a race. What a great way to showcase his hometown with its breathtaking views, local shops and amazing people. In 2012 The Michigan Wine Trail Half was born, and was the first half marathon in the Southwestern Michigan area. Over the years the name has been rebranded to Michigan 13.Wine Half Marathon and 5K.
The Michigan Half Marathon & 5K provides a unique and picturesque course that passes wineries and orchards. Our event supports local businesses, charities and volunteers in Baroda and Southwestern Michigan. In 2014 our race was featured in Running Times magazine, and in it's 7 years as drawn runners from almost all 50 states and countries including Canada and Australia. Now in our 8th year, we are looking forward to a new site for packet pickup and adding amenities to further enhance participant experience.
